If you don't have a luggage rack you have two options: 1) Buy car clips and put them on the straps. The material is very effective at keeping water out with it's vinyl backing. In addition the special zippers we use block water. In addition we use taped reinforcement behind the red piping. In harsh conditions under extended periods of time water may come in through the seams. We do offer a waterproof liner option. When used with the RZ100, your gear will stay 100% dry. NEVER EVER exceed the weight limitations of your luggage rack. If you are unsure call the vehicle or rack manufacturer and find out the weight limitations.
